Awwwww...

My sleeping boys! Lol

Coca-cola for nausea?

Why did no one tell me before today that drinking a can of Coke would help with nausea?! I might be a little mad that I am just finding out... BUT I am so thankful to my sweet husband for finally telling me today when I have been wretching so badly... So now I can attempt to finish these Christmas gifts... I was doing so well with them until I got sick, then I got behind :( But thankful that same dear husband is helping with the one that is a craft with O, but not crochet... I love my family hehe...

Psalm 27:14 "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."

Big ouch!

My poor baby fell HARD on the arm of the sofa (not well padded) & he wasn't playing around... Went 2 take pic & he poked it as the camera took it lol... 2nd pic is w/out finger

Stupid Upper Respiratory Infection!

So I am awake at 12:30am because I have this stupid upper respiratory infection and can't breathe... my Dear Husband took a shower and his new body wash is kind of a stronger scent, and although it usually doesn't bother me, it made the breathing even more difficult :(

So I am up looking at all kinds of miscellaneous things and decided to write a post, that will cover ummm who knows, whatever come to my mind at the second... And of course anyone that knows me also knows that my mind could start with a shoe and without rhyme or reason to most people jump to Christmas Tree Lights! and yes, there are technically about 4 or more jumps to get to that point that when you hear the jumps you understand, but alas I probably won't write the jumps... HAHA be prepared to be confused :)

I can't believe that I have 2 large projects that need finished and 2 small projects to start and finish and I will have all of my crochet projects done for Christmas gifts! Oh yeah, be prepared for a mass posting of crochet projects after Christmas! Oh and I can't wait to show what I am doing with O for his Christmas gifts/cards! LOVE IT!!

Speaking of Christmas, can I just say "Thank you God for sending us Jesus!" (hey I told you the jump this time, consider yourself lucky)... I would be lost if I didn't have Him as my personal Savior and Friend!

Ugh, I need to decorate the tree still... Maybe that will happen tomorrow... All the decorations have been taken out of the basement, so that is a start...

I must also say, that I am still sickened by the events of last Friday in Conneticut... I will not go on and on about this, as I am sure others have already covered what I would say... However, I would like it to be known that I have a couple thoughts on this... First is that Gun control does not answer this problem! Look at how many things are illegal and yet still available... More to the point, a good history reminder is the prohibition... Second is that I cannot imagine the heartbreak that these families are going through! My heart and prayers still continue to go out to each of them... Third, I have read a few things that definitely make me question some things, but more to the point I scoured the internet ALL day long trying to get updates and answers and was baffled at how quickly the story changed and then the original information was "forgotten"... Just seems a little weird I guess... And Finally, why is it that not many really mentioned the 22 children that were stabbed in China the same day! I understand that they were not killed, but isn't it just as awful that someone still attempted to take innocent children's lives?! So my heart and prayers go out to them and their families as well... And I will jump off of my soapbox now...

I'm thinking I am going to try this new homemade "Shower Soother Discs" that I just found... My chest is killing me... now to see where I can buy Essential Oils in this podunk town...

Mary had a little Lamb, little.... OK just joking!

apparently the more I type the more I realize I am getting too tired to be doing this... So off I go to try to get some sleep, wish me luck...

But right before I go to bed, might I mention that the Bible specifically says "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." Matthew 24:36, that means that NO MAN knows... And now that it is 2.5 hrs from being the 22nd EVERYwhere in the world, I guess the Mayan didn't predict the end of the world...

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6 and He is my Savior and Friend!

Bible Bag

Made myself a bag for my "travel size" Bible... It holds my Bible, pen & highlighters... Yes it's less than 12" including the handle!

O's tower of play-doh

O stacked his play-doh, but what u didn't see was he put all the big ones except 1 on bottom, put a small one next, then when he grabbed the big one instantly knew he needed 2 switch them! He was telling me I made that when I took pic but of course as soon as pic was taken he knocked them down with typical boy fashion!

A few more crochet projects...

Ok here are a few more crochet projects

Brie asked me to make something for her co-worker's grand-daughter... This is a pattern that I am trying to refine...

These are a pair of slippers I made for a swap...

This is a dress that I made for Addison's 1st birthday and the headband (named Addison)

This washcloth is an illusion... when you look at it straight on it just looks like stripes, but look at an angle and you see the design, I gave this to my sister who has always loved Mickey!

I wanted to make a basket using these 2 yarns together, but after I got this far I realized that I didn't have enough light purple, so I turned it into a potholder for Brie...

Last is a hat that I tested the pattern for someone, I made 2 since I didn't like the length of the first one (the brown one)...

Random Photo from Cell

The Larry-boy theme song came on at the end of the Veggie Tales video, so he went and got his guitar to play along!

O's Birthday!

Wow! It is so hard to believe that 3 years ago, this little boy changed our lives forever! I went from dreams of being a career woman to being a Stay-at-Home Mama in the matter of no time...
So Friday was just a simple day of being home... Then Saturday we went to the store to pick up the fixings for his "Cake and Ice cream"... So we grabbed watermelon, grapes, kiwi and pineapple to make something similar to what I saw on this blog... Needless to say mine was not as pretty

So I will try something more like this one

He seemed to enjoy it anyway and that is the important thing...
All went well with the get together and O enjoyed his family and presents...

This week has been busy in a non-busy way, don't ask... so today is a day where I will try to catch up some laundry and cleaning out the office and foyer and get some more crochet done... Supper is in the crockpot, will post about it tomorrow when I can take a picture (this is something I will try to do from now on, but no promises hehe)
Now off I go to get some things blocked (and photographed), cleaned and crocheted...
Have a blessed day everyone!

Whew, the weekend is over...

Wow, what a weekend... Lots of fun at the MidWest GeoBash (for those that don't know it is an event for Geocaching)... We left Thursday early evening, got there around 8pm or so and stayed until Sunday morning... When we left Sunday late morning we headed out to do lots more caching and didn't get home until after 1am! But it was fun... Glad to be home again (and not camping hehe) but boy has O been an issue today... I am so emotionally exhausted from him right now... So I am headed to my Bible where I will look for passages to remind me that this too shall pass... (since I am still having problems with Bible Verse Memorization, I wouldn't mind a few pointers but I do have a few places that I like to look first so I'm not clueless yet hehe)
I know that I am going to start with Proverbs 3:5-6~ "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."
I will then go to these and see where I am lead after that...
1 Peter 5:7~ "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
Psalm 130:7~ "Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption."

Anyway, as for supper, I had to wait for eggs so it is very late tonight (quiche, that apparently I am making wrong so it takes over 1.5 hours to cook the way I have been doing it- need to look into this)... I think it is about ready and I am hungry (and it smells so good) so I am off to eat!
Have a great night and May God keep you safe!

Another Culinary Success

Woohoo! Thanks to this recipe from A year of Slow cooking I had another success with supper last night... again, I had to alter it but that is what happens when I am picky and don't have everything needed... So here is what I did:
Crockpot Salsa & Chicken
Chicken Breasts (although apparently thighs will yield a juicier outcome)
1.5-2cups Salsa
1/2 bag frozen corn

Dump them into crockpot and cook on low for about 4 hours (if chicken is thawed)... Serve over rice

We liked it, except the chicken did get dried out because I didn't have enough salsa and it cooked longer than 4 hours... Will definitely try this with more salsa and a little less time as well as putting some salsa under the chicken as well as on top of it...

Thoughts on Aurora, CO

My post Friday late morning from other blog on the Aurora, Colorado event

I am saddened today... I wonder what the world is coming to in these dark times... I know many people will ask "How can God let this happen?" and the only thing I can say (from my tiny knowledge of anything) is that God didn't let it happen, He gave everyone free-will and that is something that He will not take from us... Yes it is sad and tragic, but God is not the one to blame... So here are my quick thoughts... Pray for the victims and their families-that the injured recovery quickly and that the ones we lost be grieved and remembered... Also pray for the shooter- that he will see what he did was wrong and seek God to turn his poor lost soul around...

I will be praying all day today, for those involved, for those now too scared to leave their homes, and for any other lost soul that needs to seek God in his life... I hope many of you will join me in prayer!

Psalm 27:1 "The Lord is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?"

Proverbs3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will direct your paths."

Combining Day to Day blog with this one

I am going to combine my 2 blogs into this one... so here is a post from Thursday on my other blog:
What a crazy year it has been... I try to get into a routine and fail, I try to get better at certain aspects in life and fail, sometimes it feels like all that I do is fail, but I know that God still loves me and that is the important thing... One thing that I have been succeeding at doing is reading a devotional every morning, it has been so refreshing for my soul! This week has had some other great things happen in it... Things that are more day-to-day and having to do with being a mom and housewife (still not sure how I feel about that title, but hey)... This week I have tried 3 new recipes, all of which were successes! This is great news since I tried a new recipe a couple months ago and it was ok, then when I tried to re-make it just last week it was a huge failure, followed by 2 other meals that I make all the time failing horribly... so what did I make this week? Monday I made Lasagna Roll-ups... It is the same idea as lasagna, but instead of layering everything you roll each noodle up individually so that each noodle is a serving... Here is what I did:

Lasagna Roll Up (got the main idea from this site: All Recipes.com)

Brown 1 pound of ground beef (I seasoned mine with oregano and parsley) Boil lasagna noodles until Al Dente (or my version of al dente is just before they are soft enough to eay hehe)

Mix together Ricotta Cheese and Shredded Mozzarella Cheese in a bowl Once everything is cooked and mixed together, lay noodles on a piece of wax paper, put a TBS of sauce and spread over noodle, then crumble about 2TBS of beef across the sauce, drop/spread 2TBS of cheese mixture over that... Roll them up like a jelly roll... Once they are all done (I made the entire box of noodles) I put some sauce in the bottom of a baking dish and placed a few lasagna rolls in the dish, covered them with more sauce and baked at 375 for 30-35 mins... The rest of the rolls I put in aluminum foil and a storage bag to put in the freezer for an easy freezer meal later

My family loved it!

Tuesday I made this Vegetable Tian meal... I have no idea what that is and had to alter the recipe that I found, but again it was a huge success Here is what I did:

Vegetable Tian (adapted from Budget Bytes)

I had browned too much beef on Monday so I had about 1 pound of ground beef seasoned with parsley and oregano that I layered at the bottom of a baking dish, next I sliced zucchini, cucumber (they suggest squash and I would have if I had it, but the cucumber worked well), tomato and potato and stuck them vertically on top of the meat alternating the veggies (don't layer them, you want them standing on the "edges")... sprinkle some salt, pepper and oregano (or was it parsley or something else?) on top of all the veggies, cover with foil and bake at 400 for 30 mins, remove foil and add a generous amount of shredded cheese (they said Italian blend, I used a colby jack blend) and bake uncovered for another 15 min

this was probably Greg's favorite, not sure that O cared for it, or he may have not been hungry and I thought it was missing something so I'll keep experimenting...

Finally Wednesday I made up my own Noodles and Beef Tips

Noodles and Beef tips (basically my own recipe, but I saw a recipe somewhere just can't remember where that used a packet of gravy and a packet of Au Jus and I made up the rest from there...)

I took Country Style Beef Ribs and put them in a crock pot, sprinkled some cumin and red pepper on top, added 1 packet of brown gravy mix, 1 packet of Au Jus mix and 1 cup of water... Cooked on high for about 1.5 hour then turned to low for 3 or 4 hours... towards the end I made egg noodles as normal, while they were cooking I took out the beef and cut into smaller pieces and put back in the crock pot for the remaining time and let them marinate a little more... then pour the beef and gravy on the noodles and have some deliciousness!

Greg and O loved, but I thought I put too much cumin in (which it did come out a little fast for my preference) otherwise complete success!

Now tonight is going to be a simple grilled chicken on a salad of romaine lettuce, cucumber, zucchini and tomato topped with cheese and dressing! yum and simple!

Now for other news... O told me 8 different colors yesterday while he was coloring, he would pick up each crayon and tell me its color... He told me blue, black, brown, green, orange, purple, red, and yellow! Then when showing Daddy, he was being a stinker and not paying attention, but if I would tell him to grab the red crayon he did and did so with all 8 colors again! (had a little problem with purple at first, but got it soon enough) So proud of my little man!

Well this post is longer than it should be, so off I go!

Have a blessed day and remember that God is in control!

Lapghan/ Pillowghan Update

Well here are the updates to the afghans... The square that is at the bottom by itself will go on the back as the pocket for the pillow part...

Now to finish a total of 28 more squares to be finished with all three....

Lots to catch up on!

Well I did it again, I got way behind and I have been crafting away! So here are a ton of pictures to show what I have done since my last post...
I have finished the lapghans for Warm Up America... I made the green squares for second blanket, but otherwise I only joined the squares given to me with yarn given to me...

I've also done many more squares for the afghans, and will try to get that updated...

I have made several more prayer squares as well:

I've made washcloths for soldiers

Then I made a few things for the house, a hot pad and 2 dishcloths:

This dishcloth was using a knitting pattern that creates an illusion effect, I tried on my own to turn it into a Tunisian crochet method and failed, then someone told me about a thread that had a link to instructions on how to convert the knitting pattern into a Tunisian pattern! I think it is pretty cool!

I did a test for my prayer partner's new design:

As well as several squares for her Journey House project:

There are so many more that I have made or started but this post is getting rather long, so I will end now and try to get the rest tomorrow or Monday when I update the afghans...

Hope you enjoyed all of the crocheted goodness hehe

Nothing to show this week...

Well I have been working on things this week, but nothing is finished and I don't really have "in progress" photos... The only thing I can show is the lapghan that I am assembling for the Warm Up America group through Pat Catan's... I picked up "squares" to assemble for them to distribute to other foundations that help keep those in need warm... These foundations include helping Nursing Homes and Women's Shelters... One of the sets of squares I grabbed were these bright pink granny squares:

There were only 10 of them and making a 3x3 was not nearly big enough... so I made 14 more squares using a mint color that coordinates well enough with the pink... I am joining them together using the flat-braid method and a cream yarn that Pat Catan's gave me... Here are the completed mint squares:

I have been working on a "costume" hook (like a pirate's) and more of the squares for the afghans, but again nothing is done yet...
What a crazy week... Hopefully will have more for you next week!

That time again...

Well here is more of what I have done this week... Another Hat, I donated the 2 spider hats and the pixie hat to Catholic Charities:

Then I finished this DS Case (it has 6 game pockets and 3 memory card pockets on the inside):

And as promised the 3 afghans that I have been working on... I am making "pillowghans" (where the afghan folds into a pocket to become a pillow, like a quillo)... I have 3 squares for each done, I will be making a total of 16 squares (a 3x5 and a square for the pocket) I included muted "squares" to represent the way it will be organized...
Here is the first which will be done in burnt orange and "linen"... I will join with a brown, but haven't chose which one yet...

The next will be made primarily the same as what you see, the variegated center with an orange ring and then the majority of the square in the same variegated... It will be joined with a yellow (hence the yellow background)

Finally This one is the most "involved"... I first made the center square with the celtic knots to incorporate ALL of the colors that will be used... The rest of the squares will be a solid color of the 4 colors used in the first one... This one will be joined in a dusty gold color, similar to the background...

ok, going to try to blog once a week...

Wish me luck... here are the items that I have completed to date: One of the first things I finished this year was mine and Greg's scrapghan:

I made myself another Hook Case... If you are looking for the pattern I got it on Ravelry (here), but I altered it quite a bit so here is my project page with a few notes... I love this one, and have many compliments on it:

I made a total of 5 sets of Fingerless Gloves (Brie commissioned me to make 4, and I wanted a pair) So here is one of the commissioned and then my pair:
and
Then I tested a pattern for this hat (uber cute, too bad I have a boy not a girl hehe)

I tried my hand in Tapestry crochet to make this square, that I sent to a friend to add to her blanket (It's a prayer square- I pray while crocheting, she assembles with other squares to be able to wrap herself in love and prayers)

The next 2 squares are also prayer squares sent to Gigi and Lisa:
and
Then I tested for a Tapestry style hat (I think I want to try it again w/ different colors that will show better) These will go to my local Catholic Charities:

Next I made 4 more prayer squares to send to Cindy so she can assemble for her sick nephew:

Finally I finished a fringe blanket photo prop for Greg to use in his photography:

This has all been done this year... I have also been working on some more blankets which I will get a collage of the squares made so far and will post them during next weeks post... And once I start posting again regularly, I won't have as many to post each week hehe
